      The risk here is not particularly that Israel, as a close ally, gets the information.  It is that Israel itself is subject to spying, for example by the Russian Mafia and organized crime, and also that it has in the past sold U.S. technology to other nations, e.g. to China.  We would also point out that many, many American Jews oppose Sharon-Likud and are in the forefront of exposing the spies, lies and Likud dominance in Washington. See for example, ALL ROADS LEAD TO FEITH by Jewish writer Jim Lobe and, of course, Seymour Hersh's magnificently researched disclosures in the NEW YORKER.  Also Antiwar.com 's Webmaster is Jewish and the site was founded with key help by Burt Blumert, a closest friend of Murray Rothbard.  The FORWARD newspaper linked below is mainline Jewish and honestly reports the spying, almost never mentioned in conservative media such as NATIONAL REVIEW or Rush Limbaugh.  Today rather, it is the political Religious Right which now shields the lobby, giving cover, money and respectability, e.g. no one is more pro-Likud-Zionist then House Congressional leader, the Armageddonite, Tom Delay (his motives, e.g. "the war between America and Iraq is the gateway to the Apocalypse" -HARPER'S Aug., 2005.

As Seymour Hersh pointed out in his exhaustive review of the Pollard case:  "A number of officials strongly suspect that the Israelis repackaged much of Pollard's material and provided it to the Soviet Union in exchange for continued Soviet permission for Jews to emigrate to Israel. Other officials go further, and say there was reason to believe that secret information was exchanged for Jews working in highly sensitive positions in the Soviet Union. A significant percentage of Pollard's documents, including some that described the techniques the American Navy used to track Soviet submarines around the world, was of practical importance only to the Soviet Union.  It was one of the biggest intelligence losses in American history: a large number of CIA East Bloc agents were executed due to Pollard's betrayal, and the Soviets gained access to top secret US codes."
